Flat Polychrome as Inspiration: lessons learned from assisting on a mural
This summer I was fortunate enough to work with artist Britt Spencer on a mural project of his at SCAD’s ‘The Hive’.
This was a great experence for many reasons, but for the sake of this post I will focus on the stylistic lesson learned from Mr Spencer. The linear mode of working with large flat areas of color proved to be quite satisfying and visually pleasing. The simplicity and bold colors create a rather nice effect on the viewer that is aided by the large scale. I may be taking some of these lessons with me in the future with my own work.
